Some Interesting Things You May Not Have Known About Meal’s

by buzzing health on November 17, 2009

Children who have a more nutritious breakfast have a much better cognitive performance than children with a less nutitious one.

A large lunch is associated with a decline in performance.

Identical meals eaten at different times of the day have varied effects on performance for example reaction times in the afternoon seem to drop off at about 2pm in the afternoon. So it would be wise to have a less nutritious meal then.

So why the change in performance ? This is believed to be due to the change in glucose levels in the blood the more uptake of glucose in the brain in the morning the better the cognitive performance. Memory is also found to be affected by glucose uptakes a study was done in elderly patients and it was found that if a conversation was followed with a glucose rich meal or drink memry uptake was greater amongst the elderly.

So start your breakfast with a high energy bioavailable meal such as oats sweetened with natural jam and you can expect to perform very well at work and school.
